Coleraine
Coleraine is a major university town and the administrative centre of County Londonderry, strategically located where the River Bann meets the Atlantic Ocean. It is a town of practical importance and a key shopping destination for the north coast region, with a pedestrianized town centre featuring a mix of well-known brands and independent retailers. The town's history dates back to ancient times—it was granted a charter in the 17th century as part of the Plantation of Ulster, and its original street plan is still evident today. The University of Ulster's Coleraine campus, set in beautiful grounds along the river, brings a youthful and dynamic energy to the town.
Coleraine's location makes it an ideal base for exploring the world-famous Causeway Coast. The dramatic coastal scenery of Portstewart, Portrush, and the Giant's Causeway are all just a short drive away. Meanwhile, the River Bann offers excellent fishing and boating opportunities, and the nearby Mountsandel Forest is home to the oldest known human settlement in Ireland. Combining the buzz of a university town with excellent amenities and proximity to some of Northern Ireland's greatest natural attractions, Coleraine is a bustling and convenient hub.
